For a company, creating an OHS vision means determining an ambition, a desirable future. This requires first analyzing the current situation and sharing the need for change. The leaders of a company must then give meaning to the path to be taken to achieve this vision, in order to inspire individuals and teams to mobilize around common goals.
The purpose of the OHS vision is to state where we want to go in terms of health and safety and why it is worth it.
This vision must also be shared and common to be truly carried forward. Personnel must feel that their manager is committed, that the vision is not just a slogan or a wish, and that their contribution is expected and necessary.
Then, in order for it to be followed by concrete actions, an OHS vision must be broken down at all levels and supported with means commensurate with the ambitions.
''Vision without action is merely a dream, action without vision just passes the time. Vision with action can change the world.''
- Joel A. Barker
